 In addition to developing the garden, I also tried my hand at growing mushrooms. I got the spores from Homebase. I planted them on the 12 May 2007. After 14 days the soil was interwoven with very thin threads called mycellae. I always wondered how mushroom got to be the juicy things that are eaten. from the pictures I can see that they emerge as small tubes, these tubes I think become wider and turn into the dome of the mushroom. We shall see.

My garden is a place of calm. I will be recording my garden’s journey; providing fresh vegetables and flowers over the course of the summer till autumn.

• Last year I grew only tomatoes, in pots and on the patio but this year I an attempting to be more adventurous. I am planting the following this year:
• straw berries, tomatoes, chilli peppers, aubergines, courgettes, chinese letture as well as a number of flowers (see pic above) beans.
• Last year I did not use this part of the garden. I used the patio.
• I also have two mature trees; apple and pear
