why blog?

Why am I blogging? Blogging has become very popular and a vital part of the internet. My blog reflects my own preferences for the type of blogs I prefer to read. Bloggers can be very influence in todays media; in previous times news information flowed from publisher to readers/ viewers or listeners but now bloggers are sometimes influential in how the news or information is presented. Bloggers provide feedback or opinions that would not have mattered in the past but nowadays public views reflected in blogs are closely viewed by opinion makers. I think blogging can have implications for education. Say for instance the pupils of a class of year 9 pupils  had been learbning about gravity and were encouraged to complete blogs during the time they studied the tiopic, it would be quite interesting to see what sort of issues might emerge. The teacher might have to deal with some direct feedback that might be hard to take but at the same time would gain a glimpse into the thinking of pupils in a way that is not common in education. teachers do not really know the views and thoughts of pupils they teach.

I definitely think that pupils blogging about education and about their learning is a really useful and exciting idea. If pupils managed to stay on track, and as long as they can be moderated or whatever so there was no bullying. You could set some really interesting homework that would be much easier to check – and parents etc could also check to see that their child had “handed in” their homework. I would enjoy getting the feedback … as long as pupils were given a bit of training in many any criticism constructive and not an excuse for vitriol against their teacher!
